Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric/Mental Health

Hello, as a psychiatric nurse practitioner I specialize in treating mental health issues with medication and work closely with therapists and counselors to be able to provide holistic care for children and adults. I have been a licensed registered nurse since 1983 and completed my Psychiatric nurse advanced practice education at Case Western Reserve University in 2014. Unlike a Family nurse practitioner or Pediatric nurse practitioner, I do not treat medical conditions. My specialty is diagnosing mental health\psychiatric conditions that may benefit from mental health medications along with skills building and counseling.

During your 1st session with a psychiatric nurse practitioner, you will be asked to complete a psychiatric evaluation, a structured 1-hour interview. Typically, you will be asked to follow-up with your psychiatric nurse practitioner several times in the 1st 1-6 weeks for further discussion of the findings of the psychiatric evaluation and/or reevaluate the benefits of any prescribed medications. Follow-up appointments can be in person or over the telehealth platform. Follow-up appointments typically are completed within 30 minutes. As a PMHNP, who has a respect for the strong mind body connection, you may be asked to return to your primary care provider for further medical evaluation and/or lab tests for possible medical conditions that can mimic mental health conditions. If requested, consultation with your Primary care provider is also available.
